1. Take an available chair and sit on it. Show the students how to sit upright with good
posture. Say to the students with a clear voice, “Sit properly,” three times.
2. Now walk around the class, and find a student who is sitting properly. Tell him/her,
“Good,” show him/her a thumbs-up, and give that student a point (or a star) on the board next to his or her name.
Step-up Lesson Plan Hour 1
6. Reward the students as much you can. Do not put pressure on quiet or shy
students. It is natural for new students to go through a silent period when beginning a new language. Allow the students time: to listen and absorb. Reward the students for copying the actions, and reward them again when they start speaking.

2. Think of an easy, popular English word, and write it on the board, for example, coca-cola. Draw a line to connect “coca-cola” to “English.”
3. Ask the students to say any English words they know. Even students with no previous experience of learning English will know some English words through friends or media.
4. Make a big diagram on the board with all the English words that the class can think of. Give points or stars to reward the students who offer suggestions.
5. As you do this activity, keep an eye on the behavior of the students. If students are sitting nicely and raising their hands to speak, also reward them with points or stars. Presentation: Homework - Writing Names 10 minutes

2. Give each student a scrap of paper and have them copy down their names.
3. If students finish quickly, invite them to the board and have them point at their name.
4. Make sure students can recognize their name in print.
5. Give each student a homework sheet. It is a page with lines for writing. Go around the class, and write each students name on the lines once (as a guide, for the students to copy at home). The homework is for each student to practice writing his/her name.
6. Demonstrate how to complete the homework sheet.

6. Check the students’ communication sheet, and make sure the students complete it nicely and correctly.
