Objectives - By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: 1. Respond to four classroom commands. 2. Sing the hello song. Review

5 minutes

3. Follow the roll call procedure with prompt.

1. Review saying (and doing) actions for the five classroom rules introduced in hour 1. 2. Say one of the classroom rules without doing the actions. See if the students can do the actions. Give rewards to the students doing a good job.

3. Collect communication sheet and check the parents’ signature. Give rewards to students.

Warm up - How to do roll call

10 minutes

1. Say your name, look around the classroom, then raise your hand and say “Here.” 2. The students repeat, “Here.”

3. Demonstrate how to follow the roll call procedure. 4. Do the roll call. Activity: Not here bomb

5 minutes

1. Say a student’s name. The student has to raise his/her hand and say, “Here.” 2. Say another student’s name. The student raises his/her hand and say, “Here.” 3. Say a name which does not belong to anyone in the class. Demonstrate squatting

down and say, “Not here.”

4. Do the activity with the class several times.

Presentation: Classroom Commands 5 minutes

1. Do the action of “stand up” and say, “Stand up.” The students do the same.

2. Do the action of “sit down” and say, “Sit down.” The students do the same.

3. Wave your hand towards yourself and say, “Come here.” The students do the same.

4. Point at the students’ seats and say, “Go back.” The students do the same.

5. Show the flashcards of the classroom commands. Say the classroom commands as you show the flashcards. The students repeat.

6. Do the four actions again: encourage the students to say the classroom commands without prompts.

7. Say the four classroom commands, and ask the students to do the actions according to the commands.

8. Assign one student to say one command, and the rest of the class do the actions.

9. Assign another student to say another command, and the students do the actions.

10. Practice several times.

11. Show the flashcards to the students but do not say the commands. Encourage the students to say the commands by themselves.

Activity: Teacher says

1. Say, “Teacher says, stand up,” then stand up.

2. Say, “Teacher says, sit down,” then sit down.

3. Say, “Stand up,” then do nothing.

4. Demonstrate to the students that they do not do the actions without hearing “Teacher says.”

5. Play the “Teacher says” game. The students who do the actions without “Teacher says.” must sit down.

6. Play several times. Reward the winner.

7. Encourage the student to volunteer being the “teacher” to give orders and play again.

5 minutes

Activity: Read my lips

1. Say one classroom command silently and without actions. 5 minutes

2. The students try to read the teacher’s lips, and say the classroom commands that the teacher said.

3. The student who has the correct answer can come to the front, and say another classroom command silently and without actions.

4. Play several times.

Song: Hello Song - WTG 1 unit 2 - How are you?

1. Play the CD, and ask the students to listen to the CD.

2. Play the CD again, sing with the CD, and do the actions.

3. Ask the students to stand up and do the actions with you.

4. Play the CD again, the class sing the song and say hello to their neighbors.

5. Ask the boys to sing the song.

6. Ask the girls to sing the song.

7. The whole class sings the song again together.

Activity: What’s the next lyric? 5 minutes 5 minutes

1. Play the CD, stop at any time. Then demonstrate singing the next lyric. Repeat the procedure a couple of times.

2. Tell the students to listen carefully. When the teacher stops the music, they have to sing the next lyric.

3. Play the CD; stop the music at any time. The students sing the next lyric.

4. Ask one student to control the CD player, he/she can stop the music at any time.

5. Play several times.

Homework 5 minutes

1. Hold the Homework sheet to show every student what today’s homework will be.

2. Demonstrate how to finish the homework. The homework is to circle if the behavior is bad or good in English class. Print out an enlarged copy of the worksheet, and put it on the whiteboard. Invite students to the front of the class one-by-one, and have them draw circles on the sheet.

Wrap-up

1. Hand out the homework sheet.

2. Tell the students to take out their communication sheets. 10 minutes

3. Write down today’s contents on the whiteboard. The students fill in their own communication sheets. (If the students are too young to fill in the communication sheet, prepare some typed paper with today’s contents on, and paste the paper onto the students’ communication sheets.)

4. Check every student’s communication sheet. Give rewards.

5. Before the students leave, stand by the door, and ask the students to line up with all of their belongings.

6. Say one command from the four classroom commands taught today, and have the students to do the action.

7. If the students are correct, do “give me five” with them, and say goodbye.

8. If the students make mistakes, encourage them to try again.

9. Add up the points for the day, and give rewards to the best students.
