A good lesson
In my view, ‘a good lesson’ is just another word for ‘an increase of knowledge.’ It’s the combination of the teacher’s creative work and the students’ active participation. Usually a good lesson begins with a song or a chant to warm us up, as the students have just got ready after the break. Then an interesting lead-in is welcome, because each text has some new words and background knowledge. Without proper explanation, the theme of the text isn’t available. After that, proper practice of some language points is necessary, so that the students will have no trouble learning them. Finally a good summary is the key to the consolidation of everything learned. Furthermore pair work and group discussion should be well organized so that every student will be actively engaged in the complete process of teaching. Of course, a good lesson also depends on the teacher’s humor and control over the whole class. By so doing, the teachers in our school often make their lessons lively and unforgettable. I enjoy such lessons very much.
